The Hair Transplantation Treatment Experience

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

The Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) method is a trusted method for hair transplantation where a strip of the absolute strongest hair is harvested from the back of the scalp. As a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Sitapara then meticulously closes the incision line in layers so that the hair above the incision covers the scar. The strip is then trimmed under a microscope into individual hair follicles which are then transplanted into the scalp. There is minimal social downtime because the hair does not need to be shaved for this procedure.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

This hair restoration technique is more minimally invasive than the FUT method. Follicular unit extraction involves the removal of individual hair follicles from the back of the head, where they can be placed in areas where your hair has begun to thin or fall out. There is no linear scar, so this is the ideal procedure for those that wear their hair very short (less than a three guard).

Recovery After Hair Transplantation

We offer a number of effective hair transplantation techniques, and every patient is very different when it comes to the specifics of their cosmetic goals. This means that your results will be unique to your physical characteristics and customized treatment plan. During your initial consultation, Dr. Sitapara will take care to walk you through the particulars of your treatment plan, helping you understand what you can expect from your recovery period and giving you a clear overview of the entire experience. Depending on which form of hair transplantation you undergo, the physical and social downtime varies. Most patients can return to work and normal life within 2-7 days by following Dr. Sitapara’s detailed after-care instructions.
