Enjoy the Nose of Your Dreams

Your nose is an incredibly important part of your visual identity. Not only does it form a key component of your ability to show a pleasing sense of facial harmony to the world, but the nose is also an important aspect of one’s ethnic identity. Many different ethnic backgrounds can be identified by the shape, size, or projection of one’s nose, and Dr. Jennifer Porter is adept at performing rhinoplasty in a way that will preserve the markers of your ethnic heritage. The goal of rhinoplasty surgery with Dr. Porter is to make you look like an enhanced and more harmonious version of yourself. Asian rhinoplasty aims to achieve this goal by enhancing your look in a way that aligns with your personal cosmetic goals, but doesn’t negatively impact the unique features that make you who you are. Is Rhinoplasty Right for Me?

Nose surgery is an ideal way to enhance your existing sense of facial harmony. It’s quite common to feel as though the nose you were born with does not quite create the pleasing look you would prefer to see in the mirror each day, and nose surgery can certainly work to create an attractive sense of facial symmetry. Nose surgery can also be an ideal way to clear your nasal passages and address any problems you may be having with your ability to breathe.

When you visit Dr. Porter for your consultation at our Bethesda, Maryland offices, you’ll get to explain your cosmetic goals and personal surgical history in detail. Dr. Porter will get to know your personal history, learn about your lifestyle and cosmetic goals, and work with to help you decide whether or not rhinoplasty surgery is right for you. She’ll also give you a clear idea of what you can expect both before and after your surgery.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure

Rhinoplasty usually takes between one and three hours to complete, during which time you will be under general anesthesia. Dr. Porter will choose between the open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty techniques depending on your goals for this surgery, and she will explain the difference between each type of technique during your consultation. While she is performing your surgery, she will utilize carefully-placed incisions to reposition tissue, bone, and cartilage according to your surgical plan.

After your surgery, you’ll experience bruising and swelling. After about one week, you will be able to address these issues with makeup and return to work and other relatively light activities. After about six weeks, your swelling will have almost fully subsided and you’ll be enjoying your new nose. Your results will be created in a way that preserves your ethnic heritage, meaning you will still look like yourself…but enhanced.
