Designing Your Bespoke Treatment Plan

Here at Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery, we’re committed to treating our patients to a truly customized patient experience. You’ll be under the guidance of our expert team from start to finish, and we’ll be available to you at all times to answer just about any question you might have.

The Consultation and Your Neck Anatomy

The first step on your exciting cosmetic journey with us will involve your pre-operative consultation. You’ll meet with your surgical specialist and a member of our patient coordination team to go over the details of your procedure, explore all of the options that are available to you, and start designing a customized treatment plan. In many cases, we’re able to offer our patients a combination of surgical and non-surgical options, for truly comprehensive results.

Chin liposuction addresses the fatty tissue that lies directly under the skin. Deep to that fat, there is a thin muscular layer called the platysma which is left intact. Younger patients with minimal skin laxity, can undergo chin liposuction alone without the need to tighten the skin. For patients older than forty or those with mild to moderate skin laxity, skin tightening can be performed at the same time as chin liposuction with FaceTite/Morpheus8.

Your surgeon will also examine your neck to feel the structures that are deep to the platysma muscle. If there is considerable bulk in that tissue layer, they may advise you pursue a Deep Neck Lift which is the most comprehensive way to address the fullness in your neck.

Preparation

We’ll take great care as we prepare you for your procedure, ensuring that you have total peace of mind throughout the process, so you can rest easy and feel comfortable while you look forward to your exciting results. We’ll go over the procedure itself in detail, explaining your surgical techniques and detailing what you can expect on the day. We’ll also give you detailed aftercare and recovery instructions to ensure that you have a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Your Chin Liposuction Experience

Our surgeons utilize a minimally invasive approach to chin liposuction. Our surgeons use 1-3 access points that are a few millimeters in size. The access points do not typically require any stitches and heal on their own. The scars that are left behind after this procedure are very minimal, and our surgeons take care to place the access points in difficult-to-notice places.

In most cases, this procedure is performed under local anesthesia. This not only helps to keep procedural costs contained but also ensures that you’ll have an easier recovery period than you might have with general anesthesia. All of your options will be explored with your practitioner during your consultation.

During the procedure, a special tool called a cannula will be used to remove unwanted fatty deposits. This tool is essentially a blunt, thin tube. It will be placed into the treatment area through the access points, where it will use vacuum power to physically remove fat cells that are keeping you from your ideal look.

The Benefits of Chin Sculpting

Our patients love chin liposuction for a number of reasons, and we can help you explore the various treatment options that are available to you during your preoperative consultation. We can also give you a clear idea of the potential benefits and limitations that come with this particular procedure.

Some of the reasons our patients love chin sculpting include:

An enhanced sense of facial harmony
A reduction of unwanted fatty tissues
A more contoured, chiseled appearance
Minimal post-procedural recovery time

Your Rest, Recovery, and Results

After your procedure, you’ll spend a bit of time in our recovery area before returning home to rest and start looking forward to your final results. Chin sculpting with liposuction does not involve a very lengthy or intensive recovery period, but you will likely need to spend about a week taking it easy and resting in the comfort of your home. You’ll need to limit physical activities for at least two weeks, and we’ll give you thorough aftercare instructions. We’ll also be available to you throughout your recovery period should you wind up having any questions for us.
