When to Consider Ear Lobe Repair

Ear lobe repair is ideal for patients whose ear lobes have become stretched, torn, or damaged. It is also, however, a great option for any patients who are simply unhappy with the size, shape, or projection of their earlobes. While they might not be the first things we think of when we consider features that impact one’s facial appearance, the earlobes go quite a long way in contributing to your overall sense of facial harmony.

The Day of Your Ear Lobe Repair

Ear lobe repair is a relatively straightforward procedure that can often be performed in the comfort of our office, under local anesthesia. Since there will be no need for general anesthesia, you’ll have a much easier experience immediately after the procedure and will be able to return home on the very same day. Most ear lobe repair procedures can be completed in 45 minutes to an hour with local anesthesia keeping you comfortable throughout the process. During the procedure, your ear lobe tissue will be repaired and restored for a more natural look. There is minimal discomfort during or after the procedure.

Recovery After Ear Lobe Repair

After your ear lobe repair, you’ll be delighted to learn that your recovery time will be relatively minimal. We’ll give you a clear set of aftercare instructions that will help to keep you comfortable as you heal and ensure that you have everything you need to manage any pain or discomfort that you might experience. Exercise can be resumed after two to three days, and most patients find that they are able to rejoin their normal routines after a week or even less. There are no heavy bandages to be worn over the ears so our patients are able to return to work immediately after. The delicate sutures that are used during your procedure will remain in place for one week and then be removed in our office.
