Drooping brows can make a person look fatigued or aged. A brow lift restores these features to their original, higher position, creating a more rested and youthful appearance. The procedure is commonly performed in combination with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty to address multiple aesthetic concerns in the same surgical session.
Patients in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia choose Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery for their procedure because of the quality of our care and the expertise of our surgeon, Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter. We prioritize safety, comfort, and a natural-looking, attractive result in all of our procedures, including brow lift. Desirable outcomes are the result of our years of experience, our specialization in facial plastic surgery, and our commitment to achieving each patient’s aesthetic goals.
The Benefits of a Brow Lift
We commonly associate drooping or heavy brows with aging and fatigue. The downward force of the brows can also cause your upper eyelids to sag and to hood the eyes. These physical traits can influence the way that family, friends, and colleagues perceive you, even when you are younger and more rested than you look.
CCFPS performs brow lift procedures for Washington, DC-area patients to:
- Conservatively restore their brow to its younger position.
- Rejuvenate their appearance in a way that is attractive and in harmony with their other facial features.
- Give their eyes a more open and alert appearance.
CCFPS and Your Care
Beyond patient safety and comfort, the aesthetic priority with a brow lift is to add just the right amount of height for a look that’s natural and youthful — not surprised. Dr. Porter has the experience and training to provide this type of subtle revision. She holds a rare dual certification from the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, and she brings over 20 years in practice to the care of Washington, DC-area patients.
When you come to CCFPS for your initial consultation, Dr. Porter will talk with you about your treatment goals, discuss your medical history, and perform an examination to see if a brow lift is good option for you. Some of the features Dr. Porter may examine include:
- The position of your brows.
- Your upper eyelids and whether they have developed excess skin.
- Lateral eyelid hooding.
If you are a good candidate for a brow lift, Dr. Porter will also talk with you about combining the procedure with blepharoplasty or a facelift to achieve your desired outcome. In an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, Dr. Porter will remove excess skin and fat to create a more alert and open appearance. A facelift will focus on excess skin, skin laxity, and jowling in the lower face and neck to return a firm and youthful aesthetic.
Along with these surgeries, Dr. Porter may also recommend that you have BOTOX® prior to blepharoplasty. Injections can minimize the pull of brow muscles during the healing process, which can improve your result.
Treatment With a Brow Lift
Dr. Porter performs brow lift procedures on an outpatient basis, typically at the Suburban Outpatient Surgery Center in Bethesda or at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. A brow lift can take anywhere from 1-3 hours, during which:
- Anesthesia will keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.
- Porter will place small incisions on the face or scalp.
- Most of the surgery occurs beneath the skin where signs of the procedure will be well hidden.
You can expect bruising and swelling for about a week after surgery, at which point you will return to CCFPS to have your sutures removed. When you have fully healed, you should appear more youthful, rested, and alert while still maintaining natural expression in your features.
Brow lift is a targeted and conservative surgery that can provide subtle and noticeable rejuvenation. To learn more, schedule an appointment with CCFPS online or by calling our Washington, DC-area office at (301) 652-8191.
