Basic Chemical Peel

Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery provides a superficial chemical peel treatment to Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia patients in order to improve the overall quality of the skin without downtime. Our gentle chemical peel formulas allow you to go directly back to work after your peel treatment.

During the chemical peel procedure, a peel solution is applied to the skin, which breaks down the ‘intercellular glue’ responsible for keeping multiple layers of dead cells attached to the surface of the skin. The peel formula exfoliates the dead skin, stimulating the production of fresh, new cells. Over time, you will see discoloration fade, fine lines disappear, and the overall hydration and health of your skin improve. Removing this barrier of dead skin also allows for increased penetration of topical vitamins and moisturizers into the skin. Superficial chemical peels can remove freckles, sunspots, and discoloration from injury or trauma, as well as increase your body's natural production of collagen.

The chemical peel procedure is done at our office near Washington, D.C., in a series of six treatments at intervals of two weeks or more. Glycolic

The Glycolic Acid Peel is a good choice for first time peel patients. It improves skin that is dry and showing signs of age.

Salicylic Acid Peel

Available in both 20% and 30% strengths. Evens out skin tone and texture, leaving skin looking smooth and healthy. Also great for acne prone skin.

Jessner’s Peel

Jessner's Peel, composed of a salicylic acid solution, is great for clearing the pores to prevent acne and can even out your skin tone.

Enhanced Jessner's Peels

This peel will even skin tone and provide more exfoliation for oilier, thicker and more resilient skin types. It is effective on extremely sun damaged and thickened skin. It is also excellent for those with active/cystic acne and asphyxiated skin (dry on the surface, oily underneath).

TCA Peel

Trichloroacetic acid facial peels are medium depth peels performed by Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter that are more aggressive than the other more superficial chemical peels. These peels require a skin prep of 6 weeks time for the best outcomes. The strengths range and will be decided by the tolerance for recovery and the patients skin type.

PCA® Peels

• Ultra Peel® Forte
  Those with resilient skin who have more dramatic wrinkling, sun damage and acne scarring are the most suitable candidates for this deeper and more active treatment. Ultra Peel® Forte is a 20% TCA peel that will effectively treat aging skin, acne, pigment disorders, smoker's skin and photo damaged skin. This treatment is ideal for dehydrated and aging skin in need of rejuvenation and is performed by Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter.
  
  
• Ultra Peel® I Exfoliating Treatment
  Specially formulated to treat dehydrated, maturing skin, Ultra Peel® I is also appropriate for many skin types, conditions and sensitivities. It will help treat smoker's skin, pigment disorders, sun damaged skin and acne. Moderate to aggressive exfoliation will be experienced, depending on the number of layers applied. Overall, the final result will be plump, hydrated and ultra-soft skin.
  
  
• Sensi Peel®
  This gentle solution is formulated primarily for ethnic skin, and other extremely sensitive skin types. Sensi Peel® will strengthen and brighten the skin while helping to treat sun damage and other forms of hyper pigmentation (skin discoloration). This multi-faceted treatment also provides anti-inflammatory, anti-acne and antibacterial action, making it an excellent choice for helping calm rosacea, as redness and inflammation can subside substantially after treatment.

  PCA Professional™ Smoothing Body Peel of the chest is formulated with potent yet skin friendly ingredients that will improve sun damage of the chest while smoothing and brightening the skin.   This advanced hydrating treatment will encourage additional flaking and peeling, and may be used alone or on top of any other PCA Professional™ chemical peel to produce a tightening and brightening effect. It is a cream mask containing natural phytohormones which plump, hydrate and moisturize aging skin. The retinol (vitamin A) content helps increase cell turnover to keep skin looking fresh, while vitamin C strengthens the skin by helping to increase the skin's collagen and elastin network. Salicylic Acid Treatments

• Pumpkin Peel Treatment
  PCA Professional™ Pumpkin Peel Treatment is a powerful antioxidant treatment that brightens and rejuvenates the skin. Pumpkin contains the highest concentration of salicylic acid of any plant, which provides the Pumpkin Peel Treatment with potent skin smoothing and pore clearing action.
  
  The treatment has simultaneous actions; it exfoliates and draws impurities out of the skin while introducing vitamins, enzymes and nutrients into the skin. This treatment is also great for smoothing the skin, as the naturally occurring salicylic acid in pumpkin removes the dead surface cells that cause rough texture.   Clarifying Mask's blend of 20% salicylic acid with cherry extract and other natural ingredients makes this an ideal choice for helping to improve acne, breakout-prone skin and sluggish, dull complexions. • Oxygenating & Detoxifying Treatments
  This is an antioxidant therapy to correct and prevent free radical damage as oxidative and environmental stress to the skin is one of the more significant contributors to the aging process. This treatment helps stimulate respiration and circulation within the skin. It helps promote healing and rejuvenates sluggish, stressed skin depleted by toxins, pollutants, allergens, improper diet and solar damage. Acneic conditions also benefit greatly. The SkinMedica trio of peels are available at Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery. Our office, located near Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia offers the latest in chemical peels. The SkinMedica peels consist of the Illuminize®, Vitalize® and Rejuvenize™ peels. The peels have varying levels of exfoliation and can be done safely and effectively in our office. Our aesthetician, Shana, will advise you as to which is the best based on your skin type and desired outcome.

• Illuminize Peel® – gentlest peel of the bunch.  It will provide brighter and tighter skin that glows.  Perfect for an upcoming event.  Also great when no visible peeling is desired.  These peels can be repeated every two weeks.  Great starter peel to combine with two vitalize peels in a package.
• Vitalize Peel® – The most popular peel.  Suitable for all skin types and yields predictable results.  Best when there is some correction that needs to take place – eg fine lines, pigment issues, acne, acne scarring.  Peeling typically begins two days after the procedure and lasts 2 to 3 days.  These peels are typically performed once per month until the desired correction is achieved.
• Rejuvenize Peel™ – deepest of the peels, penetrates into the epidermis to produce significant improvements in acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and texture.  Indicated for moderate to severe correction.  Moderate peeling that begins 2 days after the procedure and can last up to 5 days.  Darker skin types are best treated with vitalize peels on a regular basis.

VIVITÉ® Glycolic Peel

VIVITÉ® Glycolic Peel is our newest "date night" peel. It contains 70% glycolic compound which helps to improve overall skin clarity and smoothness while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is great for an upcoming event as there are no visible signs of peeling and requires no downtime. Best of all, it is marked at a lower price!

Microdermabrasion

Originally, traditional microdermabrasion performed in the Washington, D.C., area, involved spraying tiny free floating crystals or abrasive powders against the skin. Although older microdermabrasion techniques provided a method by which patients could attain younger, healthier looking skin, the systems still needed to be refined. The procedure required a lot of clean up. Both the doctor and patient had to wear eye protection to guard against the excess particles that went into the air during the procedure. The procedure was effective, but inconvenient.

At Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery every microdermabrasion we perform in our office near Washington, D.C., uses the DiamondTome™ Skin Resurfacing System. The DiamondTome™ system utilizes a patented DiamondTome™ wand that is evenly studded with small, natural diamond chips and a sophisticated vacuum system that gingerly vacuums up the dead skin cells during the course of the removal process. This machine allows for controlled, effective exfoliation without the use of messy crystals. During the microdermabrasion procedure the gentle polishing action of the DiamondTome™ Wand produces increased cell turnover, resulting in a more youthful complexion. After this type of exfoliating treatment, skin is better able to retain moisture naturally. The treatment is also effective in reducing the appearance of both old and new scars. Occasionally the microdermabrasion procedure is preceded by a mild chemical exfoliation, which increases the amount of dead skin removed during treatment. Glytone®

• Latisse® Eyelash Enhancement Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery is pleased to offer Latisse® to the Washington, DC area.  Latisse® is an FDA-approved  prescription treatment that is used to grow eyelashes, making them thicker, darker and longer. It is believed to work by affecting the growth phase of the eyelashes in two ways: first, it lengthens the time of the phase and second, it increases the number of hairs that grow during this phase.  Typically, patients see a significant difference in as little as 8 weeks.
