Remarkable results you can see and feel

Fraxel re:pair laser treatment is a revolutionary new way to correct aged and damaged skin – without the prolonged downtime or adverse reactions of other resurfacing procedures. Fraxel re:pair treatment is the first and only system of its kind that has FDA clearances for these conditions:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Irregular texture
  • Sun spots and age spots (pigmented lesions)
  • Sun-induced redness (vascular dyschromia)

How it works

With Fraxel re:pair treatment, you get dramatic results without going under the knife. Instead, Fraxel re:pair laser treatment uses points of light to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of your skin. The treatment penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells, stimulates your body’s own natural healing process, and replaces the cells with fresh, glowing, healthy skin.

Because the technology is so precise, Fraxel re:pair treatment works not only on the face, but also on delicate skin areas like the neck, chest and hands. In particular, this system effectively improves those hard to treat wrinkles around the mouth and eyes.

The treatment takes less than an hour and after several days recovery makeup can be applied. Dramatic results are seen within one week and continue to improve over the course of 3 months. Skin feels softer and looks more radiant.

Fraxel re:pair®, Lite

Results with less downtime! What could be better? Lite is a Fraxel treatment that is dialed down in intensity allowing for quicker recovery. Treatment on a Thursday and you are back to your usual routine on Monday – able to wear makeup. The treatment may be repeated at 3 months out, allowing for the full effect to run its course. This treatment can be paired with Thermage® for skin tightening, or fillers and Botox® for a complete rejuvenation. Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is popular with Washington D.C., and Maryland patients. The procedure can remove unwelcome hair from virtually any place on the body. After undergoing laser hair removal treatment the burden of unwanted hair can be significantly reduced. For gentlemen, that pesky ingrown beard and the discoloration that goes with shaving can finally no longer be a concern.

Laser hair removal works best for individuals who have darker hair and a greater contrast between hair color and skin pigment. While a laser hair removal procedure should always be undertaken by a trained professional, it is especially important for patients with dark skin to seek out a physician with prior experience administering the treatment to patients with darker skin tones. Because the laser employed in the procedure removes hair by targeting the melanin pigment present in the hair follicles, special modifications will need to be made to laser intensity to prevent the skin from absorbing too much laser energy. Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter has successfully treated patients with many different ethnic backgrounds and skin types. She is able to perform procedures with a minimal amount of skin discoloration because she possesses the proper knowledge of how patients with different hair and skin pigmentation levels respond to laser hair removal. Washington , D.C., and Maryland patients should contact Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter to discuss what hair reduction results they can expect after undergoing a laser hair removal procedure, and how many sessions will be recommended to achieve the desired outcome.

Photofacial™

Letting Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter administer a Photofacial™ is a decision many Bethesda and Chevy Chase patients have made with satisfaction. A Photofacial™ ,also known as IPL, BBL, or Photorejuvenation, can reduce wrinkles, sun damage, and pigmented acne scarring. It is also one of the few skin revitalization procedures that is proven to treat rosacea, reducing redness and flushing. The treatment can also handle certain skin conditions such as age spots, pigmentation abnormality, enlarged pores, and vascular legions with less patient recovery time than many laser and chemical peel technologies require. Areas that can be treated include the face, chest, neck, and hands.

The Photofacial™ procedure is also referred to as Broad Band Pulsed Light Therapy. A Photofacial™ treatment session in our Bethesda/ Chevy Chase office lasts for about 15 to 45 minutes depending upon the particular needs of the patient. The light used during the procedure pulses at a variety of wavelengths, allowing the different layers of skin to be penetrated so that all the abnormalities can be targeted. As the treatment progresses, collagen and blood vessels under the top layer of skin begin to tighten, producing smoother looking skin and a decrease in discoloration. You may still experience some swelling and light peeling for a few days following the procedure, but unlike many other facial cosmetic surgical procedures, you can usually return to work the next day.

Micro Laser Peel™ Laser Skin Treatment

Laser skin treatment is offered by Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery as an alternative to other skin resurfacing techniques such as chemical peel and microdermabrasion. Skin resurfacing involves removing the damaged surface layer of skin so that the epidermis can generate a new top layer. The skin produced after a resurfacing procedure is tighter and free of the sun damage, scarring, and fine lines that the former skin exhibited. Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter performs laser skin treatment procedures that focus on eliminating fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and general sun damage from the face’s problem areas such as the skin around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.

When performing a laser skin treatment in her Chevy Chase office, Jennifer Parker Porter, MD, employs a technique called Micro Laser Peel™ that uses an erbium laser to treat the outermost layers of the skin. While erbium laser technology is capable of accomplishing a deep dermal resurfacing, the real advantage of the technology is the ability to adjust the equipment to a more shallow depth than traditional erbium peels. This allows for shorter recovery times than more invasive forms of laser treatment. The procedure is performed with a topical anesthetic and recovery can be accomplished in as little as three days.

Laser Vein Therapy

Frequently, patients are bothered by small blood vessels that appear on the cheeks and around the nose. Veins near the surface of the skin are called superficial veins. They carry very little blood and are mostly used to facilitate heat transfer away from the body when the body becomes over-heated because of exertion or external conditions. The majority of people have far more superficial veins than they actually need. Not all superficial veins are visible and many, such as the superficial veins on the surface of the hands, are common to everyone. If, however, your superficial veins are overly visible or visible in places that are aesthetically unpleasing a condition known as telangiectasias can occur.

Telangiectasias, commonly referred to as spider veins, is unpleasant. While it is only physically harmful in rare cases, it can certainly damage a patient's confidence and self esteem. Spider veins can be successfully treated with laser technology. Dr. Jennifer Parker Porter will first identify and map the veins you wish to have treated. Sophisticated computer technology allows the doctor to accurately laser target only the vein you wish to eliminate. The laser energy causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel.

Skin Tyte™

SkinTyte™ offers a non-invasive approach to firmer skin. SkinTyte™ is recommended for patients who desire skin tightening as an addition to other rejuvenative procedures. The SkinTyte™ procedure utilizes a broadband of light to deeply stimulate dermal collagen, initiating a renewed foundation leading to increased skin firmness. This advanced firming procedure can be provided quickly and comfortably with no downtime.

The treatments are performed in a series or can be used as an add-on procedure to a rejuvenation package. For optimal results, SkinTyte™ may be combined with other rejuvenative aesthetic procedures such as Photofacial™, Botox® Cosmetics and fillers to further personalize your treatment.

South Beach Peel

The South Beach Peel is designed to diminish evidence of past sun damage as well as treat certain skin conditions such as age spots, pigmentation abnormality, and enlarged pores. This combination treatment begins with a Photofacial treatment and finishes with the MicroLaserPeel.

The Micro Laser Peel produces a smooth surface layer of the skin while the Photofacial corrects pigment abnormalities. The combination of the two, the South Beach Peel, will help restore skin to its natural beauty making it smoother, vibrant and more youthful in just a weekend. The South Beach Peel can be a one time treatment or repeated at monthly intervals.
