So with more choices than ever, how do we choose the appropriate filler for a given patient.
The answer is not as complicated as you think. For those patients that have had fillers previously and know that they want the filler to last as long as possible, Radiesse or Juvederm are your best choices. Radiesse may also be the best choice for those patients that know they want longer term results despite never having had a filler. Radiesse is not for the patient desiring lip augmentation but does work well in the cheek area to eliminate troughs of the cheek or simply augment the cheek.
For lip augmentation, Juvederm is the best choice, lasting 9 months or more. Juvederm is soft and has significantly less swelling than Restylane after injection into the lip.
Finally, Restylane is for the patient that is unsure whether fillers are right for them. Restylane lasts 6 to 9 months and can be used anywhere on the lower face. Occasionally, we will use in the space between the eyebrows for reduction of furrows when used in conjunction with Botox.
